Happy Pumpkin Day?

Halloween is not a traditional holiday in our country. Some people have started celebrating it in Russia recently and they believe that it's a positive tendency to borrow holidays from different cultures. While there are people who are inclined to think that it's not a good idea and they insist on observing and preserving our national customs and traditions. Which opinion do you support? And what are your reasons?

  1. I subscribe to the view that it makes sense to intermingle native holidays with newcomers. Firstly, it impacts on globalization favourably. If people get involved in the same celebration stuff worldwide, they become closer to each other and start being tolerant to others’ traditions. For example, if the Russians borrow Halloween, they will enjoy this holiday and respect its origins with the rest of the world. Secondly, it is family-friendly. More and more people nowadays take their holidays for granted and don’t achieve the target – fun and reunion. But when new holidays appear, people might change their minds and appreciate feasts properly. For instance, there is a tendency to celebrate Chinese New Year beyond China. Isn’t it amazing that having been engaged in this holiday, people have more things in common and spend more time with their households?

Unmistakably, some people don’t meet with the approval of the evidence above. They are inclined to reckon that it is too money-consuming to celebrate extra holidays. Appropriate costumes, food and entertainment are required, aren’t they?

Although money is an irreplaceable component of arranging a holiday, it isn’t the best idea to save money concerning one’s happy memories. Besides, it is feasible to throw a charitable party and sacrifice money as a gesture of goodwill.

  3. I’d would like to support people who believe that foreign holidays should be celebrated. First of all, it is really informative. Thanks to such an unusual holidays we can be absorbed in culture of other nations. We can feel unity of all peoples. Also foreign holidays are occasion to get together with close friends and relatives. It is so wonderful to have one more chance to show your love to each other, isn’t it? People have a great number of days full of positive emotions. More holidays – more pleasant memories.

But on the other hand, other people contend that it is not helpful to waste time on preparing for holiday which in fact shouldn’t be celebrated in your country.

I totally disagree with the idea that is given above. In the first place, preparing for any holiday is a very pleasant process. And by the way, it’s not obliging to buy all attributes of foreign holidays and then it will take much less time. So, there won’t be any problems.

  5. From my point of view, it is really fantastic idea to borrow some holidays from other countries. Firstly, I believe that every holiday brings people happy moments and different pleasant feelings, which sometimes they are needed in. Secondly, I think that we should borrow more holidays in order to have more weekends and days when we can enjoy life, communicate with people and spend our time without any unnecessary thoughts. Also i think that modern families are suffered by social problems and any difficulties, which causes misunderstanding between members of family and holidays will help people to become closer with their families.

Despite these arguments, some people think that celebrating foreign holidays causes the destruction of customs and traditions of our country. Besides, mentioning especially the Halloween, people find it stupid to celebrate a day, which is connected with ghosts, witches and other dangerous beings.

But I still believe that people, who want to celebrate foreign holidays emphasize the value of them, especially the process of preparation, warm and pleasant atmosphere and communication with different people.

  7. I support the first viewpoint, because people have an opportunity to take a rest from a working day. It is a good chance to please close people, giving something delightful to them. Moreover, the more Russian people know about holidays in other countries the more they begin to respect and honour the traditions and customs of foreign partners.
The second group of people assures that celebrating alien holidays is not profitable for our country. They guess that if you are a citizen of Russia you should comply the habits of your native place without borrowing anything. Furthermore, every state should be individual and special.
What has been discussed above is not right, because celebrating common holidays establishes and improves communication among people.Better understanding leads to decrease of wars We all should be united.

  8. I support the idea that it is wonderful to borrow some holidays. First of all, it can make people from different countries close. These holidays help them to understand each other and learn more about people and their culture. Moreover, borrowing holidays give people a chance to spend evening with pleasant company. Most of people find that the process of preparation is really pleasant. They enjoy creating different costumes or presents.
From the other point of view, people don’t understand some holidays. It can be difficult for them to change something in their lives. Others believe that foreign holidays influence their cultures and traditions on a negative way.
I strongly disagree with this view, because borrowing holidays can bring people lots of fun. It is a great opportunity to enrich our life with the warm memories and new emotions.
