DIGITAL LEARNING DAY

Living in the 21st century we're getting used to technology
integrated in almost all spheres of our lives. Digital learning
has become part of educational process. How has it
changed learners' and educators'
 lives? Are these changes positive?

I'm taking a Coursera MOOC E-Learning and Digital Cultures offered
by the University of Edinburgh. And one of my classmates
Madhura Pradhan created a video where students from the future
time travel into the 21st century classroom.

Watch the video and share your impressions and ideas that it
 sparkles.

  1. Deep down, this video produced a favourable impression on me. On the one hand, it's eye-opening as, regardless of our denial, up-to-date gadgets substitute a lot of procedures in our life ranging from memorising telephone numbers to surgery. The great future is awaiting us. But, on the other hand, I wish I had never bumped into a situation like this though it's already happening: when newcomers know more than older generations. It's really upsetting to watch some familiar stuff becoming obsolete and dying out. I like to memorise telephone numbers and, at least, congratulute my nearest and dearest on their birthdays in person.
To close up, though the digital era is coming up, digital natives and digital immigrants should try to preserve their heritage and the conventional stuff. This is essential, isn't it?

  2. Thank you for sharing your ideas on the topic, Karina! While some people are bragging about applying new technilogies, others are wary of proliferation of hi-tech innovations. What group do you belong to?

  3. Honestly, my position is somewhere in between. I do realise that staying up-to-date is an integral part of being successful and looked up to so I find it essential to differentiate various devices. At the same time, I'm not extremely tech-savvy, I don't possess a lot of devices. They aren't so necessary at least right now. So, balancing between these two points is my mainstream.
